about

A little tango and synth party celebrating Christmas--the Incarnation: that God has chosen to be human through Jesus.

This song was inspired by an excerpt of St. Hildegard, a nun from the 1100’s, writing a letter Bernard of Clairvaux, a French cleric, telling him of her God-given visions. I was particularly struck by the images of The Word as sound, and of flesh as honeycomb. Thanks to The New Yorker Magazine for publishing a great article on her!

lyrics

The sacred sound of the Word
is a symphony released
into the womb's dark mystery.

Forming slowly, flesh and blood.
As honey to honeycomb, and acorn to oak,
so God has become one of us.
